Happy Tuesday!!!! First off great news, I have a new wedding at Riverlakes Ranch on the blog today. Very excited as this is our first Cambodian Wedding. I LOVE their culture. Also, if you read my blog regularly, I am committing to providing you a new blog every Tuesday & Thursdays. So keep an eye out.
Cambodian culture is full of traditions. Each different outfit they changed into was vibrant with color and lots of detail. Sommaly and Robert chose to have a traditional Khmer Cambodian ceremony and an American ceremony. The Cambodian wedding was at Sommaly’s parent’s house, and the American wedding at Riverlakes Ranch in Bakersfield California. I enjoyed that they included both ceremonies. Robert was new to the culture but was excited and willing to go over and beyond to celebrate Sommaly’s culture with her family. The Cambodian ceremony was full of life, beautiful colors, family, friends, music, and food. The ceremony was very spiritual and family oriented. I love the rules that the master of ceremonies gave to Sommaly and Robert. Another impressive part of the celebration was that they thanked their ancestors, and everyone got involved. It was amazing to witness.
A unique part of the American ceremony was that Sommaly’s brother married them. I know that meant a lot to Sommaly and her family. The second ceremony was short and sweet. After the wedding, we jumped on golf carts and disappeared in the course to catch some fantastic portraits of Sommaly and Robert.
During the reception at The Rice Bowl, Sommaly, Robert, and their parents went to every table with a toast to thank them personally for coming, that was my most favorite part of the wedding. Robert’s mother Ahh and I clicked, she is the sweetest ever. Anh was very friendly from the minute I walked in. I enjoyed learning about their culture; it was fun and unique. They ended the night dancing to a live band. Sommaly & Robert I loved every part of your wedding. Thank you for being very welcoming and loving towards us. We wish you and your family many more years of happiness, health, and celebrations. We love you guys!!!
